Wood N Wings: We have lived in Sandpoint, ID, since 1976 and enjoy watching all the wildlife and birds in our backyard. We were raised in Northwest Iowa where we actively helped with the re-establishment of the Giant Canada Goose. From years of working with waterfowl and doing taxidermy, we acquired a feel as to how the birds should look. Many hours are spent looking for the right piece of driftwood or other salvaged wood. Larry uses a rip saw to cut the slabs the width and length they need. Then uses a band or scroll saw and rotary carving tools to shape the birds and other species he makes. Ardella helped with carving until a few years ago and is now creating wildlife scenes in wall hangings and quilts. Our work can be found at various galleries and log home furnishings throughout the United States. We have even shipped birds to Ireland and Russia.
